Danial Arabali (1984, Gorgan, Iran; lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany) is a visual artist working across painting, drawing, installation, and film. His practice is driven by a single, persistent question: how do we give form to what cannot ordinarily be seen? The question of the internal landscapes of the mind and the blurred territory where memory dissolves into dream. Trained as a computational engineer and holding a doctorate in Systems Neuroscience, Danial carries an acute sensibility for the fragility of perception and the elusiveness of consciousness. The sensibility that became, gradually, the foundation of his artistic practice. He works in the friction between the measurable and the felt, the bounded and the free, asking what remains when rational explanation reaches its limit. Rather than specializing in a single medium or discipline, Danial moves fluidly between forms driven not by the logics and concepts but by the trusted intuition. What unites his work across these different modes is a sustained inquiry into the invisible: the hidden structures of perception, memory, consciousness, and bodily experience that shape how we see and feel the world, yet resist direct representation. At the heart of his practice lies an abiding preoccupation with impermanence — with memory, the past, and the irreversible passage of time. Danial is interested in where opposites converge and perceptual duality exists: beauty and ugliness, structure and chaos, subtlety and intensity. Rather than arriving at answers, his work opens onto associations that are layered, personal and sometimes contradictory, inviting the viewer to bring their own inner world into contact with the image. It is this openness, this refusal to resolve, that keeps his work alive across the variety of forms and media it takes.
